How to see the views counter in CP EE

How to count articles (entries) views, and see the counter in Control Panel, in Expression Engine v.1.6.8

Supplemental

How to count the views on every article read is easy, and presented in the official wiki.

You can read it here : Entry "Views" Tracking tag, i 'll work with only one (and first) tag, "track_views="one"" that is, but from any (unknown) reason you can work with another or more tags.

Show the views counter in comments page

How to show the views count in the article template :

{exp:weblog:entries limit="1" disable="member_data|trackbacks" require_entry="yes" track_views="one"} <p class="postdetails">	By  {url_or_email_as_author} &#8226;
      Written  on {entry_date format=' %F %d %Y '}  &#8226; 
So far it has {view_count_one} views.
{/exp:weblog:entries}

Now all the visitors are happy, but what about us, the admins ? It would be nice if we could view the counter(s) in the Publish / Edit Control Panel, no ?

Display the Views counter in the Control Panel

In order to do this you have to modify just a php file from your install.

Get into a FTP client (or in your CPanel - File browser) and hit Edit on :

{system} / cp / cp.publish.php // {system} being your (hidden) install directory

On ExpressionEngine v 1.6.8, you must modify the following lines

First, retrive it from the database

Line 7031 : $sql .= "ee_weblog_titles.weblog_idee_weblog_titles.title,
ee_weblog_titles.author_id,
ee_weblog_titles.status, 
ee_weblog_titles.entry_date, 
ee_weblog_titles.dst_enabled,
ee_weblog_titles.comment_total, 
ee_weblog_titles.trackback_total,
ee_weblogs.live_look_template,
ee_members.username,
ee_members.email,
ee_members.screen_name, 

//next will add our counter : , don't forget the ending double
// quotes, and the previous comma  

ee_weblog_titles.view_count_one";

Then show it

Line 7108: // Weblog entry title (view entry)
//.....
//replace :  
'<b>'.$row['title'].'</b>'
// with
    '<b>'.$row['title'].' ['.$row['view_count_one'].' Views]</b>'
//here you add another or all views

Now just save the file and go to your Control Panel / Edit Entries section, and voila.

If you encounter php errors, just be careful at quotes and double quotes.
