Ikariam v.0.3.3 news

Some announced changes and rumors about the new 0.3.3 version of Ikariam, the best Strategy Browser Based MMO game.

GameForge didn't announced any release date for the new version, but i hope the testing stage will last longer.

Official Ikariam v.0.3.3 changelog

Feature– Invite friends more easily: There is a new menu item under ‘options’ called ‘Invite Friends‘. You’ll find a link there that you can send on to your friends. If they register for Ikariam via this link, their first town will be placed as close to your capital as possible.

Feature- Players that have activated holiday mode, are inactive or have been banned are not included in the faith calculation any more.

Feature– Changes made to Barbarian Village: The village has beenexpanded from 10 to 15 levels. However, players that have already completed the last version will not see the new levels, as the resources have also been reduced. In addition, the reward has been changed so that Barbarian Village yields marble before crystal. Barbarians always have enough morale now.

Feature– Small changes made to the builder’s overview

Feature– Changes made to morale during battle: Armies do not have their own morale any more as this is now connected to the player. The detailed battle report’s display has also been altered to that effect. Furthermore, the round’s morale change is now listed graphically as well as in textual form (details on the mouseover above the graphics).

Feature– Fleet behaviour when arriving in a town has been changed: In the past, enemy fleets were able to sail through blockades, but now they have to be allied with the blocking fleet. Pillages and occupations that have also been started from the same island will still not be affected, as they do not need to sail through the harbour.

Feature– Defenders cannot flee from battle by sending their fighting garrison on a mission somewhere else any more. Instead, they can flee just like the attacker, i.e. they have to survive another battle round. The fighting garrison does not appear amongst the town’s troops any more, but can now be seen on the military advisor as the running mission ‘Garrison is defending town’ or ‘Garrison is defending harbour’.

Feature– The barracks and shipyard have been revised. Units are not completed individually any more but are only made available once the complete job has been completed. Up to 3 jobs can be commissioned at one time.

Feature– Building list for spies: Several spies can be commissioned at the same time now. Spies are not completed individually any more, but are only made available once the whole job has been completed. Up to 3 jobs can be commissioned at one time. 

Feature– The size of experiments is restricted now. Previously the crystal price always increased, but now the maximum package size lies at 300 000 crystals, which corresponds to 150 000 research points.

Feature– Pillaging unitless towns has been made easier. If a player has no units present, the battle will be over as soon as there is a breach in the wall (providing a wall exists).

Feature– Changes made to the warehouse: The amount of goods that are safe from theft has been increased from 1% to 8% 6%. The doubling of theft security for Ambrosia has also increased correspondingly. When a player is inactive, the values are reduced back to their old values. Up to 4 warehouses can be built per town (if someone has already built more than four, the surplus ones are not deleted, but will carry on functioning normally) The number of warehouses will continue to have no limit beyond available space and only the largest 4 will count towards protected goods.

Feature– More highscores: There are two new highscores. In the ‘donation highscore’, donations for extending resource sources and miracles are compared. As all players’ donations are saved, you can start with exact figures here. In the ‘consumption highscore’ all used resources are taken into account, for buildings as well as military units. The loss of units does not lead to highscore deductions. The starting value for existing players is taken from the ‘master builder highscore’ plus the ‘donation highscore’.

Feature- Unit upkeep has been changed. Upkeep is now deducted per hour, instead of every 20 minutes. However, upkeep is now precisely
calculated according to duration of use. If, for example, an army has been en route for 30 minutes, double the upkeep is deducted for these 30 minutes.

Changes Explained

• Just one morale bar per player, not per action
• in combat, when defending your own city, you can retreat your troops in the city, and keep them off battle, to recharge your munition and morale
• in ground combat, when there are no defending troops, you don't need to break the entire wall, just one gap is necessary to pillage the town
• two more scores that adds to the total one : donations (1% from all the mine and temple donations, on all islands) and resources (donations + master builder)
• the gold page : as you can see in the test server, the gold page is the best new feature, you can see all your incomes and expenses, when you are recruiting troops or ships, and per each action
• the recruiting queue : you have a 3 actions queue when training troops, ships or spies. Is similar with the Extra building queue with ambrosia. For example, you will train : in first queue 30 giants, 60 spearmens and when they are all done to train, you will get the all 90 troops.

I hope the bug fixes list will have 3 pages at least ... all the new features in 0.3.2 was not tested right, and it was full of bugs after release.

People talk :

- combat round length will be reduced to 15 minutes, for now it is tested on the german alpha server which is one of the servers with the most users worldwide, but it seems to be stable, so they will probably include this change in 0.3.3

- Ghost troops (from the age old troop delete bug some versions ago that only appear in the general's overview and the GP score) will probably finally be deleted, at least there are several reports about this from alpha on .de that already has 0.3.3

- Ping attacks will probably not work in 0.3.3, there is already a partial fix for the 1 spearman + 1 cook attacks and the like, but a complete fix will probably be in the version that goes to the live servers

It seems some countries will get directly the 0.3.4 version, basically they fixed the bugs from 0.3.3, here's the change log :

Feature: It is now impossible to call back armies from occupied or allied cities via the military screen if your own town is occupied or if the respective harbour is blocked, unless it's on the same island.

Feature: It is now possible to partially withdraw garrisons from a fight.

Bugfix: Safe capacity of warehouses was incorrect when raiding inactive players (0.75% instead of 1%)

Bugfix: A bug with the highscore calculation with future researches was fixed.

Bugfix: A bug causing a white page while trying to delete a town was fixed.

Bugfix: Offers were still valid when demolishing a trading post.

Bugfix: It was possible to send spies though you didn't have enough gold.

Bugfix: Fighting a hostile superiority did not lead to a morale decrease.

Bugfix: "Unknown Loca-Function" bug fixed. The respective messages are now displayed correctly. This won't affect town messages that were written before this update.

Bugfix: If in a fight besides the wall no other units were still alive so far both sides lost. From now on the defender will be the winner.

Bugfix: If both sides cause the same damage or suffer from the same losses in a fight during a round we'll now have a new case concerning the morale changes of this round.

Bugfix: It was possible to do "ping" or "probe" attacks by using one range unit and one support unit.

Bugfix: Display bugs in combat reports fixed.

Bugfix: Charset bugs in the facebook welcome mail fixed.

Bugfix: A bug that caused faulty battle fields or battle field sizes was fixed.

Bugfix: In case the defender didn't have troops it could have occurred that he didn't get a combat report but only the message "You're troops are lost.", this is now fixed.

Bugfix: Players that were in vacation mode for more than 30 days haven't been taken out of vacation mode automatically, this is now fixed.

Bugfix: In case the upkeep of a player is faulty this will be automatically corrected once a day.
