Just found my new partition manager, is better and more free.

Until now i used, like most people dc-grabbed Partition Magic, at start 7, then 8. It almost never failed, true, but now a free software exists, and from my opinion is better.

I first heard of it from a PC magazine, and at the time i needed to modify a friend's HDD structure (he had only a partition). Now enough of me, let's talk about Partition Magic Wizard.

Partition Wizard Description

Partition Wizard is a Windows based server partition manager software. Supports both MBR and GUID partition table (GPT) format running on 32/64 bits Operating System including Windows XP, Vista, Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, and Windows 7. It has HDD support for : IDE, SATA, SCSI, USB external disks, Fire wire disks and so on. Partition Wizard also supports RAID devices.

Partition Wizard Features

I used and tested the Partition Wizard Home Edition v.4.2.2, the free edition that is. The bootable CD is free also. With money, they have extra 3 edition :

Partition Wizard Server Edition - one 119$ license, Supports Windows 2003/2008 Server (32 and 64 bit), Windows 2000 Server/Advanced Server
Enterprise Edition 299$ Site License, is server edition + Allows unlimited usage within one company
And the "free for all" version : Tehnician Edition with only 499$ Allows unlimited usage within unlimited companies

All the paid versions includes the Home (free) edition, that has the following functions :

Move/Resize Partition
Copy Partition
Create Partition
Delete Partition
Format Partition
Convert File System
Hide/Unhide Partition
Explore Partition
Partition Recovery
Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk and (not so) much more.

How is that better then Partition Magic ? Well let's see

Is smaller (like 6mb and 39 for the bootable version)

UI is more intuitive and simpler.

It has Permanently data delete ("Wipe partition"), that is a "physical format". For those who don't know what this is ... every file that was deleted (soon or not so soon) can be restored with special software. The only way to truly erase data is to rewrite the hard disk sectors with other data. The Wipe partition does this, it fills every sector from your partition with data (0, 1 or both).

Resize / Move partition is easier. I had to resize my C partition last year, and it was a pain in the ass. The process is very time consuming, it has to move all the data to the right, ex : I had some free space at the end of HDD, i had to move the free space tot the begining of E Partition, then to D, so that i can give free space to C. Anyway, Partition Wizard let me move the free space, and then apply the operations just once, not multiple times, for every partition like in Magic.

Though i don't like the "wizard thing", is too similar to "magic" , seems is a good marketing strategy, on an already taken market. And trust me is not a coincidence, they even use link titles like "partition magic alternative", so they count on searches like "Partition Magic" and theyre titles are "Partition Wizard is a Magic ...". Not nice but efficient i guess.

Bootable CD

I tried out the bootable CD, but it was a bad experience.

I wanted to make a new partition, from free space on C. Every operation ended with an error : "NTFS file error. Check file system.". Of course, it has an option named "Check file system." Wow then this will solve my problem then ?! The answer was no, because the feature was "greyed out" on C Partition (NTFS), the only avaible option was "Surface Test" that found a disk error but it doesn't have the "fix" option like Check file system has. Anyway i solved the problem installing the Partition Wizard Home on windows, and scan&fix the C from there, and then creating the new partition.

Im searching for a Windows program to transfer all of my m4p’s to mp3s.
In this dayNow in age, I didnt figureconsider this would be a difficult matter to fulfill, but Ive been in search of more than one hour now and the only thing I could find out are sharewareshared programs what dont seem to move at all or puts that just say to burn all of them to a CD, then rip them again, which at more than 300 songs, I am determinately not going to finish. All of them are currently nuilt in folders and properly called with metadata all included too, so if possible Id also like to retain\keep it… whereas as so Im ready to look anything.
Not having high price, the program should be almost the same to <a >m4p converter</a>.
Do you have any suggestion?
